STEPHEN PARRIS
Stephen Parris is a composer and performer with a focus on improvisation, chance operations, and traditional and contemporary Javanese Gamelan. He is currently a performer with Gamelan Sari Raras, and has been a longstanding member of the Monktail Creative Music Concern. He has been a member of Gamelan Sekar Jaya and Gamelan Pacifica. Recent recordings where Stephen can be heard include “Lou Harrison: Scenes From Cavafy” on New World Records, and “Backdoor Draft” EP By Special O.P.S. on Monktail Records. They are radically different albums, but both rather enjoyable in their own way.
